This evening I will attending my dad's retirement party. After thirty-six years of working for the man, this man get to be his own man. I'm so proud of him! After all, this is what he's been working for his whole life.
But now that he's retired, I figured he'd probably get pretty bored after a few days, so I thought I'd make a list of all the things he could do...
- Remodel our basement
- Play golf with me
- Teach Ryan how to fix a car
- Manage our assets and portfolio
- Help us plant a vegetable garden
- Repair our backyard fence
- Go fly fishing with Ryan
- Install crown molding in the bedroom
- Change the oil in our cars
- Replace the windows in the house with engery efficient ones
- Plant a dogwood tree in the front yard
- Fix the leak in the fountain
- Become the world's best grandpa (I'll supply the grandkid)
- Remodel upstairs master bath
- Paint guest room
- Build us walk-in closets
That should keep him busy for a while.
Ha, yay for your dad!! My dad has tried to retire 3 (?) times. It never works. He now "works from home"--he refused to put an office in his new office building, but, he's there so much, he now uses the conference room. Sheesh!

ReplyDeleteMy mom and dad had been asking me some ideas/activities they can do while staying with us this coming summer. Their senior living has been fun for them since they retired from work last 2007. I'll suggest this list to my dad when we visit 'em in North Richland Hills next weekend.
