Schue Love Guest Post

Hey y'all, I'm guest posting for Natasha over at Schue Love today.  She's also a new mom to an adorable little boy named Ethan.  She's having a series of new mamas post on their experiences with their kiddos and I'm loving all the posts.  My topic is all about not having a freaking clue what I'm doing regarding raising this child of mine.  Seriously, these things should come with instruction manuals!  If nothing else, the post should make any new parent feel okay about freaking the f*** out when they get home from the hospital with a new baby.

Anyway, go check it out and leave a comment, would ya?  Pretty please and thank you!

And because I love you...

  2. Found you over at Schue Love! Love your blog! I'm graduating from law school in December with a concentration in Elder Law - just have my clinic left to do, (and the bar) and I'm finally done. I LOVE running across other attorneys in blog-land - especially ones who manage to have some semblance of work-life balance :) Happy to be your newest follower!

  4. I was complaining to a friend of mine about how awful I felt I was at being a mom when Julia was little. And she goes, "Duh. Think how long it took you to get comfortable in your job. A couple months, right? Before you felt like you knew what you were doing? Why would this be any different?"

That perspective gave me a lot of peace. It's a brand new job in a brand new field, and that steep learning curve sucks when you're in the middle of it. But that's so completely normal. The hardest part is coming to peace with not knowing everything right away and not viewing it as an "I'm failing!" type thing.

You're doing an awesome job, and Mac is a very lucky little guy. And you and your family (well, mostly Mac, I mean) are just too stinking cute for words.

  9. Ok, seriously, I have been doing this mom thing for almost 8 months now and this is the first post I have read that has put my mind a little more at ease! Such amazing and honest writing. Thank you for putting it out there. Sometimes I try to explain how I'm feeling without sounding complain-y and negative but it's hard to get the point across. You did! And you're obviously such a perfect mom for Mac, you can see in his eyes that he knows how loved he is!
